Does the bible reveal the location of the geographic center of the earth's surface? Yes, and as you may have guessed that location is Israel. Not the borders of modern day Israel, but the Genesis 15 borders of Israel. In Genesis 15:18-21 God promised Abram (later Abraham) his descendants would one day posses a large piece of land: "In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt (the Nile) unto the great river, the river Euphrates:The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites." This area would go from the Nile River of Egypt, which is about 4,258 miles long, to the Euphrates River (about 1,740 miles long), with the southern border being a line connecting and crossing the southern most points of these two rivers, to the north being the area of the Hittite empire (modern day Turkey), and west to the Mediterranean Sea. The map below is a conservative representation of this area as all of Turkey would be a better representation to show the entire stretch of the Hittite empire. As you can see in the map above, the blue lines are an illustration of the borders of the Genesis 15:18-21 Israel. Modern day Israel is represented by the red area, which would put Jerusalem about center of the land promised to the rightful descendants of Abraham. The numbered areas seen on the map will be discussed later. The land covenant was re-affirmed with Isaac, the rightful heir of Abraham in Genesis 26:2-5, and then with Issac's son Jacob/Israel in Genesis 28:13-15, which also extended the promise to his children. The Patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel), along with their descendants were promised this large piece of land (The Genesis 15 borders of Israel), but the Patriarchs never fully possessed the entire land mass before they died. A day in the future Israel will take possession of the Genesis 15 land given to them and after the resurrection, may dwell together with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the fullness of the promised land --From border-to- border. Is The Area Within The Genesis 15 Borders of Israel The Geographic Center of The Earth? Yes! Here are the scriptural references: "to seize spoil and carry off plunder, to turn your hand against the waste places that are now inhabited, and the people who were gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell at the center of the earth... “Therefore, son of man, prophesy, and say to Gog, Thus says the Lord GOD: On that day when my people Israel are dwelling securely, will you not know it? You will come from your place out of the uttermost parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great host, a mighty army. You will come up against my people Israel, like a cloud covering the land. In the latter days I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when through you, O Gog, I vindicate my holiness before their eyes." Ezekiel 38:12,14-16 ESV "Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her." Ezekiel 5:5 KJV "In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst (middle/center) of the earth." Isaiah 19:24 JPS Tanakh Science Has Also Confirmed The Geographic Center of The Earth's Surface Is Within The Genesis 15 Borders of Israel 1. Physicist Andrew J. Google Maps marked Çorum, Turkey as the literal geographic center of the earth, which is also located within the Genesis 15 borders of Israel. Click Here & Click Here The two locations above are about 149 miles apart. 3. In 1864, astronomer Charles Smyth determined the literal geographic center of the earth was at the Great Pyramid of Giza. Click Here Think of all the biblical activity that has happened and will happen in this region of the world and it testifies to the importance of the area in the plan of God and humanity. This is the hub of civilization, the launching point of the Gospel, near to the landing of the ark, the tower of Babel, and the future location of the throne of the Messiah, and the battle of Armageddon. No other area on earth has so much history, activity, or prophetic significance as this area. It makes sense that this area is the literal geographic center of the world.
